Privacy & donation policy

Plain language, no surprises. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it.

Who we are

Ears to Hear, Inc. (“Ears to Hear”, “we”, “us”) operates this website at e2hear.com. We are a nonprofit corporation whose application for recognition of exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code is pending. You can reach us at contact@e2hear.com.

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us:

  • Information you submit in a form — your name, email address, organisation, location, and message.
  • Donation information — if you give, our payment provider collects your payment details and shares with us your name, email, gift amount, and date. We never see or store your card number.
  • Basic technical information — our web host records standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability.

This site does not use advertising cookies and does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.

How we use it

  • To reply to you.
  • To process and acknowledge donations, and to keep the records a nonprofit is required to keep.
  • To send occasional updates about our work — only if you asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and it works.
  • To keep the site secure and functioning.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to operate: our payment processor, our email and form service, and our web host. Each handles your data under their own privacy terms and only on our instruction. We will also disclose information if the law requires it.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS, so information you send is encrypted in transit. Donations are handled on the payment provider’s own PCI-compliant checkout. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not keep sensitive payment data ourselves, which removes the largest risk to you.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. Email us and we will act on it — no explanation needed.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Donation and refund policy

How donations are processed

Donations are processed by an established third-party payment provider on their secure checkout. You will receive an emailed receipt immediately.

Tax deductibility

Our 501(c)(3) application is pending. Until the IRS issues our determination letter, we cannot represent that gifts are tax-deductible. We will publish the letter and our EIN on this site once it is issued. Please consult your tax advisor about your own circumstances.

Refunds

We want every gift to be one you meant to make. If you donate in error, change your mind, or a gift was made without your authorisation, contact us within 90 days and we will refund it in full, with no questions asked. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days.

Recurring gifts

You may cancel a monthly gift at any time using the link in your receipt email, or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect before the next scheduled charge.

Use of gifts

Gifts support the mission of Ears to Hear. Where you designate a gift for a specific purpose, we will honour that designation. If a designated purpose becomes impractical or is already fully funded, we will contact you before redirecting the gift.

Accessibility

An organisation devoted to hearing care ought to build a website anyone can use. We have aimed for WCAG 2.1 AA: keyboard navigation throughout, visible focus indicators, sufficient colour contrast, meaningful alternative text, and respect for reduced-motion preferences. If you hit a barrier on this site, please tell us — we will fix it and thank you for it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on the site.
